NEW BEGINNINGS FOR RUTH NKHOMA

On 21 July 2025, Ruth Nkhoma, aged 25, was officially released from Kachere Female Prison in Lilongwe, having been incarcerated for 1 year and 1 month following allegations of murdering her husband. At the time of her arrest on 18 June 2024, Ruth was the sole guardian of her three-year-old daughter, Patience, who joyfully reunites with her mother today. The emotional reunion was marked by the presence of family members, including her uncle, Charles, who expressed deep happiness at Ruth’s release. The family, having prayed fervently for justice, celebrated this long-awaited moment. Missional Law, in partnership with the Women Lawyers Association, played a key role in securing Ruth’s freedom through a successful bail application filed with the High Court, Lilongwe Registry. Upon her release, Missional Law extended further support by providing Ruth with new clothing, transport, and food. Ruth now expresses a desire to begin a new chapter in her life. Her goal is to start a business that will allow her to care for her daughter and rebuild a stable, meaningful future.
